The bioeconomy is growing ? and this group intends to be a part of it. The Agriculture/Bioscience Committee explores and promotes value-added agriculture and bioscience development in Johnson County. Committee members do this by educating Chamber members and the entire community on the role agriculture plays in our local and global economies. Educational opportunities organized by the committee include the ag breakfast series, an agriculture/bioscience industry tour and honoring local farm families and agriculturally minded students. Any member is welcome to participate in this Committee. Aug 12 Ag Tour: Where Does Your Food Come From?
Join the Agribusiness/Bioscience committe as we tour the local chicken and egg processing plant in Frytown and the Kalona Cheese factory, one of the area's top attractions.  Whether you're in the food industry yourself, or just an interested consumer, you'll want to take this opportunity to see where your food comes from first hand and make personal connections with local suppliers.  We will meet at the Johnson County Fairgrounds at 7:30 a.m. and carpool to our tour sites.  We expect to be back at the fairgrounds around 10:30 a.m.  RSVP by August 5 to rsvp@iowacityarea.com, with "Ag Tour" in the subject line.
